How to personalise your photo session: a short guide by baby William & Newborn Story Photography

There’s an absolutely gorgeous little boy I’d love to tell you a bit more about! First time I met baby William he was still in his mum’s belly. His lovely parents visited my Sunderland studio for a maternity session, and right then his dad had a good hunch and brought along a couple of items related to his work. He’s a director at Media Partnership (if you’ve not heard of this company before, you might want to check their fantastic work here: https://www.mediapartnership.co.uk/ )
and the things he decided to include in his wife’s bump session, all relate to his job he truly loves.

It wasn’t much longer before William’s mum messaged to inform that she’s had her beautiful baby boy and we arranged his newborn session shortly after. Again, dad brought to the studio lots of creative props ...well not just lots, two massive suitcases(!) and we had so much fun playing around with all of them, I can’t remember when was the last time I laughed so much during a newborn session!

The photos turned out super cute, and all the accessories dad brought to the session made for a beautiful continuation creating a truly captivating story.

But a year went past and William’s First Birthday was fast approaching. Parents contacted us again to arrange a Cake Smash session and yet again, dad brought his director’s chair to the studio for William’s session!

I don’t think I have to say much here, the photos can speak for themselves! Sweet little William clearly takes after his dad!

Any photography session you may book, whether it’s newborn, cake smash or just a family portrait session, it’s always a great idea to bring something that holds personal value to you and your loved ones. It will affects the whole character of that photo session. Because it’s not just about the photos, that final result, but the whole experience that becomes fully yours to cherish and keep within your warmest memories.

Hope you enjoyed this little ‘guide’ and if you’d like to see the smile on William’s face when he got to dip his hands in hisBirthday cake, then check his Cake Smash gallery here:

David's First Birthday Cake Smash session

He was so so cute at his cake smash session it's even difficult to describe. He first seemed a bit confused, like 'what do I do with this eh?' But once he got to dip his little fingers in the buttercream (and then lick them!) he was on a mission! It was such a pleasure to watch him play with his cake with all the innocence such a little soul has!

Happy First Birthday Nate!

When we started this session our little model seemed to be a bit tired so I quickly moved through the family session part to make sure he is still happy and content for the Cake Smash fun. At first he looked a bit puzzled and had no clue what to do with the cake neatly placed in front of him, but once his daddy reassured him he can play with it as much as he wants to, he suddenly exploded with energy! It was so much fun to even look at him playing so joyfully! I'm so happy I could capture these happy moments for this lovely family!

Thank you for visiting my studio!

Cake Smash celebration

Our First Birthday Cake Smash celebrations are such great fun! And it's so much more than just playing with the cake. We always start with family and single portraits before moving to the cake smash fun. Then we have a calming bubble bath to wash off all the little bits of butter cream and chocolate, and we finish off with towel snuggles & giggles.

And it's even more fun when the little one can share this experience with an older sibling!

Karen and her First Birthday Cake Smash session

This little beauty came all the way from Hartlepool for her cake smash session to celebrate her first Birthday! And just look at that yummy looking cake!

Cake smash sessions are always so much fun for everyone, not only for the little ones! Yes they get to eat a delicious cake, have loads of fun playing around, splash in a bubble bath afterwords, but the aftermath is a special memory that the whole family can cherish forever!
